Paula Cummings, Headteacher, Cambo First School, Morpeth (judged by OFSTED to be an Outstanding School) writes:
Our aim at Cambo is to ensure that all children have equal access to learning and are able to progress from individual starting points, maximising all learning. We firmly believe in seeking out support for individuals when difficulties arise. Gail came into our school when such difficulties arose with a specific child. And what a service she provided. Dyscalculia. An area with very little support in Northumberland, very little if any CPD, and an area which staff were struggling with at a classroom level. The internet offered advice and resources that could be purchased...but little practical support. Gail was a true 'Mary Poppins', what she doesn't know about dyslexia and dyscalculia is unimaginable. She came into our school and worked miracles with staff, teaching assistants, parents and the child. Supporting: diagnosis, CPD for all, action planning, teaching and learning plans. A real breath of fresh air. An expert with the knowledge, experience and ability to support others in it's application. Yes, there was a cost in money but without Gail's support there is/was a cost in the mental health of everyone supporting this child in school. I can honestly say that the cost was well worth it with reference to the support we received - excellent value for money! Staff feel empowered and we can see such an improvement and such success! We are so thankful that Gail was able to support us!
“My son LOVES his maths lessons with Mrs Van S!” (Laura, Parent of Y5 child)

Louise Fletcher, Headteacher, Swarland Primary School:
"Thank you so much for the training. It raised a lot of discussion afterwards regarding our current practice and addressing the needs of the children. This was so worthwhile. Thank you. Can't believe it was your first virtual training - went so smoothly."
"Gail has been an invaluable resource in supporting pupils with specific maths needs. She has worked with individuals to assess their precise needs, creating and delivering a curriculum which pinpoints and covers the gaps in their knowledge and understanding. Gail has also worked with teachers, staff teams and school partnerships to improve the offer local schools can make.”
Sharon Donaldson, Chair of Amble Maths Hub
